Football betting rules at Arada Bet
These Arada Bet football betting rules explain how football bets are reviewed and settled, including ordinary match markets, extra time, penalty shootouts, postponed events and live betting. They are intended to help players understand football betting rules in Ethiopia before confirming a wager.
Always check the market name, the time period covered, the event status and any special wording shown on the bet slip. A market may use “90 minutes”, “full time”, “to qualify” or another definition. If a general explanation differs from the conditions displayed for a particular market, the specific market rules and the applicable Terms and Conditions take priority.
Arada Bet aims to settle football bets according to its published market rules and official event data. A result may remain pending while information is checked, and a football bet settlement can depend on the exact market selected rather than only on the final appearance of the match score.
Standard settlement time: 90 minutes
For most standard football markets, the settlement period is 90 minutes of play plus referee-added time. Added time, also called stoppage time, is part of the same match period. It is not the same as extra time, which consists of additional periods played after a drawn match when the competition requires a winner.
- Match Result / 1X2: usually settled on the home win, draw or away win after 90 minutes and stoppage time.
- Double Chance: normally uses the result during the same 90-minute period.
- Total Goals: usually counts goals scored during regulation time and added time.
- Handicap: generally applies to the score at the end of the standard settlement period.
- Both Teams to Score: normally considers goals in 90 minutes plus stoppage time.
Unless the market says otherwise, extra time and a penalty shootout are excluded from these markets. This is the central principle behind 90 minutes football betting and should be checked before a bet is placed.
When extra time counts
Extra time football betting is available only where the market wording or its rules clearly includes the additional period. Phrases such as “including extra time”, “to qualify”, “winner of tie”, “team to lift the trophy” and “outright winner” may indicate a wider settlement basis, but the precise conditions still need to be read.
For example, a bet on Team North to qualify may be settled in favour of Team North if it wins after extra time or after a penalty shootout, where the market includes both stages. A bet on Team North in Match Result / 1X2 is generally a 90-minute market and is not changed by a later extra-time goal. Do not treat an ordinary match winner market and a qualification market as interchangeable.
How penalties are settled
A penalty awarded and scored during the match is a normal football event. If it occurs during the period covered by the market, it can count towards goals, totals or other relevant markets. A penalty shootout is different: it takes place after the match and is used to decide which team advances.
- Penalty during play: normally counts when the market includes that part of the match.
- Penalty shootout: usually does not count as match goals for 90-minute totals.
- Qualification or trophy markets: may use the shootout outcome when their rules include it.
Under these penalty shootout betting rules, a 0–0 match that is decided on penalties does not automatically become a match with shootout goals. The market definition controls the outcome.
Cancelled, postponed and abandoned matches
A cancelled football match bet may be void when the event does not take place, subject to the applicable Arada Bet rules. A postponed football match betting selection may remain open if the match is rescheduled within the period specified for that market. The relevant period could be defined by the next calendar day, a competition round or another deadline; players should not assume a time limit that has not been published.
Before relying on a result, consider these situations:
- A match is cancelled before kick-off.
- A match is postponed before it starts.
- A match begins but is abandoned before completion.
- The remaining play takes place later.
- An official result or event record is corrected after the final whistle.
- The event shows an incorrect date, team or market description.
If an event is not completed within the relevant period, a football betting void outcome may apply and the stake may be refunded. However, a market whose result was already unambiguously determined before an interruption may be treated differently. The specific rules, event notice and Terms and Conditions must be checked before assuming that every selection will be cancelled or refunded.
Live football betting settlement
Live football betting rules differ from prematch procedures because events and prices can change while a match is in progress. A goal, red card, VAR review, penalty or dangerous attack may cause a market suspension. A bet sent during that moment can be held for confirmation, accepted at a revised price or rejected.
Live odds may be received with a short delay. The system can therefore compare the requested selection with the latest confirmed event data before accepting it. Visit Arada Bet live for the available live section, and review the bet slip carefully before confirming a live football selection.
Odds changes and bet confirmation
A football odds change before acceptance does not mean that the original price has been secured. If odds move while a selection is being submitted, the system may display the new odds for approval or reject the request. Only an accepted bet shown in the bet slip with its confirmed details should be treated as placed.
Check the teams, market, handicap or total, time period, odds, stake and acceptance status. This simple check is particularly important in live football, where a football odds change can follow an event that has not yet appeared in every part of the match display.
VAR, official data and result corrections
VAR can overturn a goal, change a penalty decision or affect a red-card record. During a review, the relevant market may be suspended until the incident is resolved. Settlement may then rely on confirmed official data rather than an early screen message or an initial commentary report.
Where an official source later corrects an event or result, Arada Bet will apply its published policies and the Terms and Conditions. A result that has already been displayed is not necessarily final if the applicable rules allow a correction. Players who believe a bet was settled incorrectly can keep the bet reference and contact support through Contact Us.
Player, cards and corners markets
Player, cards and corners markets can use definitions that are narrower than the general match result. Cards may be limited to players on the field and may treat coaches, substitutes or bench personnel according to the specific market rules. Corners generally require an officially awarded and taken corner, but the applicable definition should be confirmed before betting.
A player selection may be void when the player does not take part, depending on Arada Bet’s rules and the market type. An own goal is also not normally credited as a goal by the player who scored it unless the market rules state otherwise. For player markets, cards, corners and related totals, check the specific market rules before placing a bet.
Examples of football bet settlement
The following scenarios illustrate how the time period and market wording can change the result. They are examples only; the displayed market rules remain controlling.
- Scenario: Team North and Team South finish 1–1 after 90 minutes. Team North scores in extra time. Settlement: A 90-minute 1X2 selection on Team North is not won by the extra-time goal; a market expressly including extra time may be settled differently.
- Scenario: A match is 0–0 after extra time and Team East wins the penalty shootout. Settlement: Over 0.5 Total Goals for 90 minutes normally loses because shootout kicks are not match goals. A qualification market may favour Team East if penalties are included.
- Scenario: A fixture is cancelled before the scheduled kick-off. Settlement: The selection may become void and the stake may be returned, unless a specific event or market rule provides another treatment.
- Scenario: A live bet is submitted while a VAR review is taking place. Settlement: The request may wait for confirmation, be accepted with updated odds or be rejected if the market was suspended before acceptance.
- Scenario: A selection says “Team West to Qualify”. Settlement: Extra time and a penalty shootout may count when the market rules include those stages; the same assumption should not be applied to ordinary 1X2.
Responsible football betting
Football betting should be entertainment, not a way to earn money or recover losses. Set a spending limit before playing, take breaks and avoid increasing stakes to chase an earlier result. If betting stops feeling manageable, use available limits, time-outs or self-exclusion tools and seek support. Read Responsible Gaming for practical guidance and Age Restriction Policy for the applicable age requirements. Only adults who are permitted to gamble under the applicable rules should use the service.
